Faculty Support Technician
Permanent
Full Time – 35 hours per week
Salary: Grade 4 £31,920 – £34,332 per annum (Successful candidate will commence at £31,920 per annum)
Location: Riverside Campus
As part of our commitment to meet and respond quickly to the needs of our students and stakeholders, we are looking for a new member for our Nautical Science & STEM team.
Candidates must be passionate about supporting and motivating our students. You must be able to communicate effectively and work well as part of a team. This role is all about enabling learning and skills through efficient and effective maintenance of Faculty resources.
City of Glasgow College has invested heavily in a range of engineering and Nautical resources that allows learners to practice skills and experience workplace scenarios and challenges in a safe environment. Students can also experience situations and scenarios that only occur in the workplace in time of crisis and therefore be better prepared to react appropriately. This ranges from robotics and advanced manufacturing /mechatronics to CAD labs and full ship mission (bridge and engine room) simulation suites.
The successful candidate will undergo manufacturer training in the operation maintenance and updating of simulation related software and hardware. Duties will include setting up and configuring systems ready for delivery of teaching and learning. They will act as experts for the wider Faculty resources team in order to ensure resilience across the faculty infrastructure. Other duties will include user (students and staff) instruction in the operation of equipment, demonstrations of functionality and installation and testing of machinery and other faculty resources. Where needed the role holder will provide support to the wider college IT technician team (a mutual support function).
You must be self-motivated and reliant and have a desire to help others learn. You should be qualified to SVQ level 3 in an engineering discipline You will have recent competent IT skills. Equally important are effective interpersonal skills and be able to work as part of a multi-discipline team.
Based at the Riverside Campus this role will form part of the Nautical and STEM Innovation team.
